Located 38km from Lao Cai City, Sa Pa is a mountainous district of Lao Cai Province. Sa Pa District is very well-known with Sa Pa Townlet, a beautiful and romantic resort. Sa Pa is a modest land, it has many wonders of the natural scenery with topography of hills, green forests.

The name “Sapa” literally means “sand” (Sa) and “village” (Pa). Previously, there was just a “sand village” for local people to exchange goods and services.

It will be a big surprise to experience four seasons in one day when you visit Sapa town: the morning is spring, the noon is summer with mild sunshine, balmy climate and dew in the afternoon create a feeling of autumn weather and the night is the cold of winter.

♦The best time for visiting

Each season of Sapa wears its own beauty with different characters, you can find the most suitable time to travel for yourself.

September-November / March-May: stable weather, dry sunny days, cold nights. Suitable for picnics and homestay in Sapa.

April-May: the time of transplanting rice on terraced fields, and also the flowering season. If you want to have great photos, travel to Sapa at this time.

September-October: the rice crop season with golden scenery across the hills. With fresh and pleasant air, you can have long trips and participate in many other tourist activities in Sapa.

December-February: it is very cold, ice can be found and sometimes it snows. This is also the bloom season of peach blossoms. However, traveling through the villages may be more or less difficult.
