Location: In Forbidden City, Hue City, Thua Thien – Hue Province.
Characteristics: Duyet Thi Duong is considered as the oldest theatre in Viet Nam.
Built in the 7th year of Minh Mang reign (1826), Duyet Thi Duong was the art performance place for kings, royal family, mandarins and national guests of Nguyen Dynasty.
Hue Monuments Conservation Centre had Duyet Thi Duong restored according to the original architecture with glazed tile roof and wooden columns lacquered red and trimmed with gold. Stage, backstage, seats were also restored to serve visitors. In particular, the centre built the exhibition hall of photos, documents, costumes, musical instruments relating to 3 typical art forms performed in the theatre, namely: Vietnamese court music, court dance and royal classic opera. The performance programs in the theatre are staged elaborately to contribute to preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage forms of Hue Ancient Capital City.
