The Old House of Phung Hung

The Old House of Phung Hung, Hoi An is one of the most famous architectural buildings that are considered to be the cultural heritage of hoi An. The Old House of Phung Hung is located in the 4 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street in Hoi An, Vietnam. The building stands on eighty columns. Some other features of the old house include the Yin and Yang style roof, which is traditionally made out of convex designs. On the other hand the tiles that interlock the roof are made in concave design. In the Old House, you will also find various handicrafts that reflect the culture and tradition of Vietnam.

 

The Old House of Phung Hung, Hoi An was established in the year 1780. The building is two storied. Here you can see a unique blending of two different architectural styles. The different floors are designed in two different styles. The Japanese style of four-sided roof can be perceived in the ground floor. On the other hand you will see a round shaped roof that reflects a turtle shell in the upper floor. This is a Chinese design. Since eight generations, people are living in this house.
